The following notice appeared on page 5 of the EDP of August 2nd 1951:
The funeral service for Mr. Maurice Bert Standley, aged 18, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Standley, of Sandpit Farm, Deopham, who was killed in a motor cycle accident, took place at Deopham Church yesterday, the Rev. H. W. H. Gray officiating.
The immediate mourners included the parents, Joan and John, Mr. and Mrs. G. Nickalls1, Mr. and Mrs. Gapp, Mr. H. Standley, Mrs. E. Fricker, Mrs. L. Barber, Mrs. Y. Woods, Mr. and Mrs. E. Cannell, Mr. J. Standley and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. Standley, Mr. W. Standley, Mr. and Mrs. T. Standley and family, Mrs. Ryder and daughter, Mr. A. Standley, Miss W. Standley, Mr. and Mrs. F. Standley, Miss D. Vanstone, Mr. G. Reynolds.

The tombstone above Maurice Standley’s grave reads:-
In loving memory of our dear son and brother MAURICE BERT STANDLEY who left us so suddenly on his 18th birthday July 28th 1951 as a result of an accident.
He left us, his thoughts unknown, but left a memory we are proud to own.
