Deopham History

Rev. John Howard

John Howard was licensed to the role of Stipendiary Curate to the parish of Deopham on November 29th 1813 on a stipend of £401, although he had been Rector of Morley St. Botolph with the chapel of Morley St. Peter since May 16th 18002. He died on October 19th 18323 having also held appointments at Burnham Deepdale4 and Tacolneston5.

He is listed as Curate at the foot of the baptisms listed in the Deopham register of baptisms for the years 1805 – 18126.

The Rev. John Howard appears on an 1826 return of the Morley Sunday School where, in response to the question “Have you any remarks concerning the school” it is stated “the books etc. chiefly provided by Rev. J. Howard as Rector”.
